Three Turkish families were detained at Larnaca airport on Monday when they were caught with fake travel documents at passport control.
The twelve Turkish nationals – six adults and six children were attempting to fly to Germany.
Police arrested the three men and the remaining family members were taken to a hotel. Reportedly, they told police that they had been living in North Cyprus for the past three to four years.
The legal services said that the group would not be prosecuted, Cyprus News Agency reported, and that the immigration and asylum agency had been given instructions to process their request for political asylum.
