The 22nd International Famagusta Festival of Art and Culture starts on Tuesday.
Famagusta Mayor Ismail Arter spoke about the upcoming festival.
Arter said that he is proud of the International Famagusta Culture and Art Festival, one of the biggest festivals in Cyprus, and that well-known artists perform at the event which will be held from 28 August to 12 September this year.
The mayor said that he hoped that the festival would benefit both Famagusta and North Cyprus.
The festival has been prepared with care, particularly in light of the economic crisis North Cyprus faces owing to the devaluation of the Turkish lira.
Opening the festival on Tuesday will be the famous Reggae group Inner Circle at the ancient ampitheatre at Salamis.
The festival runs until 12 September.
