A new telephone helpline has just come into operation. It is 183 and is for emergency social services. The number should be used for reporting child abuse and violence against women.
The Minister for Labour and Social Services, Serife Unverdi, launched the new line yesterday and it is now in operation.
The line will be open 24/7. Both Turkcell and Telsim have agreed to make calls to this number free.
There will be an information campaign over the next few days to raise public awareness of this new service.
