Thalassaemia patients are being forced to find their own sources of blood supplies themselves because of a marked fall in donor numbers.
Nilsay Kadrioglu of North Nicosia, recently spoke to ‘Havadis’ saying that it was a problem finding enough supplies of blood. Asking friends and relatives was an embarrassment, she said, as not everyone felt willing to donate blood.
She said she was grateful to those who had donated blood but wanted everyone to know that more was needed.
