Two journalists for Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Afrika’ are to be tried separately on charges of insulting Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan.

Chief Editor and owner of the newspaper Sener Levent and head journalist Ali Osman, were acquitted of the charges by a lower court earlier this year. The newspaper had published a carton offensive to President Erdogan after it was originally published in a Greek newspaper.
Following their acquittal, the Attorney General made two separate appeals against the lower court ruling, adding that separate trials were a feature unique to the TRNC.
The case has been postponed until 19 December.
