Aiya Napa murder suspects reportedly admit killing George Low

Two men who were arrested in Kyrenia for violating a military zone have been remanded in custody for three months pending another court hearing.

Mehmet Akpinar 22 and Salih Ahmet 43 are also wanted in connection with a fatal stabbing in Aiya Napa on Sunday 14th August.

The Greek Cypriot police sent a written request to the UN bi-communal technical committee on crime and criminal matters for the handing over of two men wanted for the murder. The committee was set up in 2008 so that both sides could cooperate on issues such as money laundering, illegal immigration, trafficking in human beings and arms and drugs trafficking.

This now seems unlikely as they are waiting for a legal process to be completed in the North.

Reportedly Mehmet Akpinar 22 and Salih Ahmet 43 have admitted to stabbing George Low and his friend during an altercation. They said that they only intended to scare the men off and did not intend to kill anyone. George Low 22 died of stab wounds to the neck while his friend Ben Barker sustained stab wounds to the back but survived.
