President Mustafa Akinci met with the President of the European Parliament (EP) Martin Schulz at the presidential palace on Tuesday.
After the meeting, President Akinci said that his meeting with Schulz had been very constructive and that he had briefed the EP President on the latest developments of the Cyprus negotiations.
Recalling that he had met with Schulz previously during his visit to Brussels, Akinci said that Schulz has a good knowledge of the Cyprus problem and added that he is also a person who honestly supports the solution.
Akinci noted that he had also thanked Schulz for his support and interest in the Cyprus negotiations and added that they exchanged views on the improvement of of ties between the Turkish Cypriots and the EP, considerating that they will share a common future all together within the European family.
Akinci also stated that he pointed out, once more, the Turkish Cypriots’ determination to achieve a solution to the Cyprus problem and added that Schulz assured him that his support, as well as all other European organisations’ support for the efforts to finding a solution, will continue.
