President Mustafa Akıncı is meeting with a delegation of five members of the Animal Husbandry Union headed by union leader Mustafa Naimoğulları (photo left).
The farmers have been blocking Lefkoşa with their tractors for three days, demanding a meeting with the President.
They are protesting against the effects of the devaluation of the Turkish lira on their sector. They say that they are facing ruin because of the rise in prices of animal feed and insufficient government subsidies.
