President Nicos Anastasiades will undergo heart surgery soon, South Cyprus Government Spokesman Nicos Christodoulides announced on Wednesday, ‘Famagusta Gazette’ reports.
In a written statement Christodoulides says that President Anastasiades had visited a medical centre on Tuesday for a routine check-up during which it was established that he will need to undergo surgery of the mitral valve of the heart.
Last month, the President suffered a prolonged nosebleed and was admitted to a hospital where tests established that he was suffering from hypertension during a trip to Brussels.
