Anastasiades leaves Mount Sinai hospital

South Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades was discharged from Mount Sinai hospital in New York on Sunday morning, after undergoing open heart surgery in early December, Cyprus Mail’ reports.

The president will continue his recuperation in a Manhattan hotel for some more days before he returns to Cyprus.

In a press statement, David Adams, the cardiac surgeon who performed the operation to repair the mitral valve on 2nd December, said Anastasiades’ health problems have been fully addressed and that he is ready to return to his duties. He added however, that his doctors recommended that he rests for one week and spends some time with his family.

President Anastasiades thanked everyone and especially his doctors and Mount Sinai hospital for their support.
