Following an invitation by President Vladimir Putin last year to visit Russia, Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades arrives in Moscow today on an official visit to the Russian Federation during which he will hold a series of meetings in Moscow and St Petersburg.
In Moscow Anastasiades (shown with Putin in Milan last year) will have official meetings with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev and the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Sergey Naryshkin.
The Greek Cypriot president will be accompanied by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Energy, and the Government Spokesman. Issues to be discussed at the meetings will include the Cyprus problem, the relations between Cyprus and the Russian Federation and ways to further enhance them, the EU-Russian relations, the situation in Ukraine, as well as regional developments in the Eastern Mediterranean.
It is also expected that a series of bilateral agreements in various fields of bilateral cooperation will be signed.
Anastasiades will make and address to the Moscow State Institute of International Relations on the Cyprus problem and the latest developments, and will meet with the editors in chief of the main Media of the Russian Federation.
On 26th February, he will depart for St Petersburg where he will meet the city’s Governor.
