Ankara uneasy about coalition’s record on reform and corruption allegations

Ankara is uneasy about the UBP/DP coalition government over its actions, North Cyprus correspondent for Turkish daily ‘Milliyet’ Sefa Karahasan, wrote in his column on Tuesday.

According to Karahasan, Ankara is disturbed by the coalition government which on the one hand, has failed to make reforms within the framework of the economic protocol signed with Turkey and on the other hand, for the recent allegations of corruption in its bureaucracy.

Karahasan adds that Turkey’s Deputy Prime Minister Responsible for Cyprus Affairs Tugrul Turkes’ latest visit to the TRNC was prompted by these concerns.

The issues discussed during the meetings with the political parties conveyed some messages regarding the future of North Cyprus”, wrote Karahasan.
