Armed drones could be deployed from Adana’s İncirlik airbase to help in the fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL).
Both the U.S. and Turkish military will have to wait for the government to agree to the deployment of the two armed drones to the airbase, however.
The U.S. has been using four unarmed Predator drones at the airbase for the past three and a half years. Last week, one of the drones was brought down by the Syrian Air Force in Syria.
Ankara and Washington are continuing to negotiate for the deployment of U.S. war planes as part of efforts to defeat and downgrade ISIL in Syria and Iraq.
