A suspect accused of assaulting his ex-wife and the suspect’s brothers accused of assaulting the police officers who arrived at the scene were arrested and brought to court in Gönyeli.
In court, the police relayed the details of the incident, stating that the suspect named A.K. argued with and assaulted his ex-wife around 21:10 on Saturday.
The police noted that the relatives of the suspect and the ex-wife gathered at the scene following the incident.
The police stated that the suspect’s brothers, M.K. and H.K., went to the scene to assault A.E., M.N.K., B.H.K., S.A., and F.A., who are the woman’s relatives, “for allegedly assaulting their brother“.
The police explained that as the situation escalated, a report was made to the Gönyeli Police Station, and a team was dispatched to the scene.
The police revealed that M.K. and H.K. assaulted the officers intervening in the incident and prevented them from performing their duties.
The police officer requested that the three suspects be detained for one day initially, explaining that an investigation had begun with statements to be taken and camera footage to be reviewed.
Speaking after the police, M.K. and H.K. claimed they were innocent, while A.K. denied assaulting his ex-wife.
Senior Judge Şerife Katip, considering the testimony before her, ordered that the suspects be detained for 24 hours.
