Assembly Approves Draft Bill For Central Bank

The draft bill on the TRNC’s banking sector was approved unanimously yesterday in the assembly. The bill aims for stabilise and make viable the financial market in the TRNC.

Speaking during the meeting of the assembly, independent deputy Mehmet Cakici claimed that several regulations will be made with the approved bill, adding, however that still the appointment of the director of the TRNC’s Central Bank comes from Turkey.

Cakici was highly critical of the government, asserting that no steps were taken towards the civilisation and democratisation of the country.
