Aydın Denktaş, the wife of the late President Rauf Raif Denktaş, has died this morning.
Mrs Denktaş was admitted to the intensive care unit of Lefkoşa State Hospital on 1 January suffering from pneumonia and remained in hospital to date. Her condition had improved and she was transferred to the chest infection ward, however, last weekend, following a sudden drop in her blood pressure, she was taken back to the intensive care unit. She died from pneumonia and multiple organ failure this morning.
Aydın Denktaş was 86.
