Turkey’s seismic survey vessel ‘Barbaros Hayrettin Pasa’ will leave Cyprus waters, Foreign Minister Ozdil Nami has said.
Speaking on Bayrak TV, he said that the research vessel which has been anchored off Famagusta port for some time now, will be withdrawn. This action is being taken in view of the fact the SAIPEM 1000 drilling ship, which has been operating on behalf of South Cyprus, is moving out of the area.
Nami said that the decision for the ‘Barbaros’ to return to Turkey was made as a good-will gesture and removed the pretexts that the Greek Cypriot leader Anastasiades had used in order to abandon the negotiating table. “Hopefully the Greek Cypriot administration will use this opportunity and return to the negotiating table”, he said.
