A multi -purpose beach cleaning vehicle was donated to the municipality of Iskele yesterday.
The purchase was funded by Turkey and a similar vehicle was donated to Lapta council a few weeks ago.
The Cherrington 500 sand and soil removal and screening machine can deal with most of the debris on our beaches. It will remove algae, branches, glass, stones, rubbish, animal waste and cigarette butts and will then smooth down the sand.
At the handing over ceremony, Tourism Minister Unal Ustel said that there was a major push to clean the beaches for the season. It is planned that more of such vehicles will be obtained with the help of Turkey.
