The only problem for tourism in the TRNC is the low number of hotel beds available, General Director of Pegasus Airlines, Zeki Ziya has said.
While attending the World Travel Market in London, Ziya told Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Kibris’ that a greater part of the hotels are full and the tourists who come to the TRNC will not be able to find accommodation. Further investment in tourism was essential, he added.
General Director of Salamis Bay Conti Resort Hotel & Casino, Suleyman Kansu, told the paper that when the hotels are full in 2018, the TRNC might run into real difficulties. He noted that the numbers of bed occupancy are expected to increase in 2018 to between 25,000-30,000, which means that they will see a 30% increase in the demand for flights. He argued that they should plan flight schedules for 2018 right now.
