Blood samples sent to Turkey after hospital death

Kemal Erureten passed away last night in the intensive care unit of Nicosia state hospital last night. He was 57 and had been serving as an Assistant Police Inspector.

Last Tuesday, Mr Erureten was taken in to Famagusta state hospital with suspected inflammation of the gallbladder. Soon after, he was diagnosed with viral pneumonia. Because of this he suffered several severe respiratory failure incidents and was transferred to intensive care at Nicosia state hospital.

After his death, doctors sent blood samples to Turkey to determine if he had contracted swine fever. Analysis of the samples has not yet been concluded.
