A boat carrying refugees into TRNC territorial waters was detected by the Coast Guard on Thursday evening.
On Friday morning, the Coast Guard detected the boat 1.6 nautical miles off Kayalar Fisherman’s Shelter and took control of the boat which was carrying 13 Syrian nationals. On board were nine men, two women and two children who were handed over to the Turkish Coast Guard.
