In the first eleven months of 2018, there were were nearly 9.5 million crossings between South Cyprus and the TRNC, Tourism Planning Department figures show.
According to the figures, during the above-mentioned period, in round figures, 4.49 million people crossed from the south to the north and 4.7 million crossed from the north to the south, compared with the same period of the previous year when the crossings were 4.46 million and 4.49 million respectively.
The number of the Greek Cypriots who crossed over to the TRNC during the first 11 months of 2018 reached 1,630,561, comparing with the same period of 2017, which was 991,164. Also, the number of TRNC citizens who crossed over to South Cyprus during the same period of 2018 reached 1,616 233 and 1,610,949 of those who returned.
An increase of 71% has been observed on the crossings of Bulgarian tourists, during the above mentioned period, comparing with the same period of 2017. Also, a 48% increase has been observed on the crossing of tourists from Greece. On the contrary, a 61.7% decrease has been observed on the crossing of Israeli tourists from the south to the north.
