Nicosia Council Employees Hijack Mayor’s car

Most council workers have not been paid for months. When they heard, earlier this morning, that an invoice for servicing the Mayor’s car had arrived from Cangar Motors, they marched to the garage, confiscated the car and handed it over to the police. The police are now holding the car at their headquarters.

BES, the council workers’ union said that earlier today, they had taken over the Mayor’s BMW registration LTB1. They claimed that the servicing invoice amounted to 5,000 Euros  and that this was ridiculous given that the council could not afford their salaries.

Developments to follow.
