Kyrenia Castle has opened a new Bronze Age workshop which is exhibiting Bronze Age artefacts and selling high quality replicas.
The workshop located just inside the fortress gates is exhibiting pottery dated between 750 – 475 BC.
Items for sale are very realistic copies of artefacts depicting animals and containers for oil and wine. Each artefact is individually certified and sales are being made under the supervision of the Antiquities and Museum Department. Any item purchased can easily be taken through customs.
Sevket Piro who runs the workshop says that the copies have been a major tourist attraction and he hopes that locals will show a similar interest in the history of the island.
