Flooding in the Kyrenia area after torrential rain, has been blamed on the building of houses and apartment blocks in river beds.
Turkish Cypriot officials met on Thursday to discuss the problem of flooding after visiting the local area.
After the meeting, TRNC Minister for Labour and the Interior, Asim Akansoy said that it was clear that flooding had been caused by building in river beds. It was essential to solve this problem, he said. He added that proper planning needed to be in place with emphasis on the construction sector.
Over a dozen houses, several businesses and two vehicles had been affected by the floods.
