The Greek Cypriot Council of Ministers will soon be announcing a series of measures to give a much needed boost to the South Cyprus economy.
The council has been meeting in marathon sessions yesterday and will do so again today.
At the top of the agenda, is the passing of laws allowing for the opening of casinos in South Cyprus. It is hoped that the construction of hotel casinos similar to the TRNC model, will boost tourism.
Other measures being considered are to give Russian bank depositors Cypriot citizenship as a gesture of compensation for the money they have lost through the bank levy.
All these measures will be announced in a press conference scheduled for Thursday by President Anastasiades.
