CMP finds remains of twenty missing persons

The remains of twenty persons have been found at an excavation site in a military area behind the new prison in North Nicosia.

Murat Soysal, an assistant a Turkish Cypriot member of the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus (CMP) said that they think that the human remains are those of Greek Cypriot soldiers who died in the intercommunal war.

He said that according to information given, two trucks containing the bodies of Greek Cypriot soldiers had transferred their remains to the site. So far they have only found the remains from the first truck and excavations would continue, he said.
