Contract signed for upgrading Lefke-Aplic border crossing

A contract to undertake roadworks for the Lefke-Aplic border crossing has been signed. The project should be completed in five months, a UNDP press release said.

The estimated cost will be around 600,000 euros, funded by an EU aid programme for the Turkish Cypriot community. The contract for the roadworks only applies to the north side of the border.

The length of road to be improved is 980 metres long. Culverts will be constructed to carry away rainwater, where needed. There will be retaining walls, guard rails, road signs and markings for the safe manage of traffic.
