CTA employees threaten legal action

KAMS union president, Ahmet Kaptan, produced a press statement yesterday saying that his union, which has been representing CTA employees, is tired of asking the government for justice and that they are now ready to take legal action to seek a remedy for their grievances.

A major issue is Provident Fund contributions. These are amounts that are deducted from employee salaries and are later used if they are unemployed, similar to National Insurance contributions in the UK. However, CTA directors failed to transfer those contributions to the Provident Fund.

Kaptan wants to know why they weren’t transferred and also why the directors have not been criminally charged for not carrying out their duties.
