North Cyprus News - Tufan Erhurman - Leader of CTP
[CTP Chairman – Tufan Erhürman]
Leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Tufan Erhürman, has hit out at the government on his social media account about its new electricity tariff for state projects, citing legal, safety, and transparency concerns, especially at Ercan Airport. He claimed the regulation ignores legal, economic, and institutional boundaries, Yeniduzen reports.

Erhürman highlighted uncertainties surrounding the newly created “State Departments Tariff II,” a special energy tariff for state departments and projects, which also includes irregular installations.

He expressed concern that this tariff was created for specific individuals, questioning if it was a discount or convenience. He pointed out the uncertainty of the unit price and criticised the government for its inability to clearly communicate the tariff details. His primary concern is the special arrangement for “irregular installations“, which he argues encourages such practices instead of penalising them. He stressed that irregular installations pose significant safety risks, particularly in health, education, and transportation sectors, and questioned the sustainability of such policies.

Erhürman speculated that the regulation might be related to Ercan Airport, raising safety concerns if the installations there are indeed irregular. Currently, the airport is still running on builder’s electricity supply. He criticised the government’s lack of transparency and called for immediate termination of such risky and illegal practices if his party comes to power. He concluded by condemning the government for causing harm to the public while hypocritically talking about “stability“.
