CTP Will Not Enter Coalition with UBP-DP

Tufan Erhurman, leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) said that after the elections he does not want to form a coalition government with the National Unity Party (UBP) and the Democratic Party (DP), adding that if such coalition cameon to the agenda he would say “no”.

Erhurman, who was guest on private Turkish Cypriot channel Kibris TV, argued that the only model for these two political parties is the “patronage system”, which is implemented by distributing rural land and citizenships.

He further said that the UBP-DP coalition government had granted 12,000 TRNC citizenships in 20 months, adding that they also granted 500 citizenships to people who had arrived in the TRNC for just one day on a tourist visa. While, Erhurman said that the number of citizenships which were granted during the CTP period, did not exceed 500.
