A customs official’s car was attacked by an unknown person in the Nicosia Industrial zone on Monday.
A press statement has been issued today by Erol Emin, head of the Guc-Sen union, saying that the car was attacked savagely and suffered major damage, in addition the tyres had been repeatedly stabbed. The customs official was unharmed.
The statement continues that customs officers are doing a difficult job, as best as they can, given the lack of support. However certain groups are not happy with their activities and are attacking customs officers physically. These attacks have increased recently.
The union has reported the latest attack to the police and hopes that they will catch the perpetrators.
