Turkey is making sincere efforts to achieve a resolution in Cyprus, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu has said.
There there are problems, crises and frozen conflicts in the region. “There is no hope for a quick solution of the frozen conflicts. There is only one hope in Cyprus.”
“Unfortunately, the Greek Cypriot elections began to affect the talks, one year ago. Both the Enosis decision and political equality had not been accepted, and despite the fact that it was included in the text of the joint declaration, the Greek Cypriot side, started to undermine the negotiations.
That’s why we insisted on holding the five-party conference. We support the process, and there is also a solution for Cyprus. There are many problems in our region, crises, frozen conflicts. There is no hope for a speedy resolution of frozen conflicts. The only hope is in Cyprus. We think that if the Cyprus problem is solved, it will mainly contribute to the settlement of other frozen conflicts [in the region].”
