Deluge of Rain Fills Parched Reservoirs

North Cyprus News - Kanlikoy ResThe heavy rainfall last week, although very destructive and claiming lives, has also brought benefits.

The Kanlıköy Reservoir in Tashkent Nature Park, which completely dried out in September, prompting a rescue operation for its fish stock, has now begun to fill.

The reservoir, which was built in 1963, can store an estimated 1.1million metric tons of water. However, there is work to be done as there have been landslides into many parts of the reservoirs.

Local farmer, Adem Beydola, 82, stated that the water from the dam was used for irrigation. He also mentioned how important the dam was for the country. It not only supports the human population but also wildlife.
