Rauf Denktaş, son of the deputy leader of the Turkish Cypriot coalition, Serdar Denktaş will be taking part in the 2016 Cyprus Rally this weekend.
Rauf who is also the grandson of the late President Rauf R Denktaş, will be part of a team of 11 Turkish Cypriots taking part which also includes Turkish Cypriot racing champions like Fikri Macila, Mustafa Bulutoglulari and Omer Yildiz.
Speaking to Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Kibris Postasi’, Denktaş said that he was aiming to finish in the top ten. He and his co-driver Derviş Savarona will be racing in their Ford Fiesta S2000 but driving under the Turkish flag because he has a Turkish driving license.
The other Turkish Cypriot entries include Fikri Macila and Mehmet Mison with their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, Omer Yildiz and Mehmet Kasimoglu also with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX and Mustafa Bulutoglurari and Ahmet Ozerdem with a Ford Fiesta R5.
