Dipkarpaz Cannabis farm discovered

Police have discovered a major cannabis growing operation near Apostolos Andreas Monastery in Dipkarpaz.

In nearby woodland they have found over one thousand cannabis plants ranging in size from 10 cms to 2 metres.

The man arrested for owning the cannabis farm, Recep Ocak, was in Famagusta Crown Court yesterday morning. He has been charged with illegally cultivating and trading drugs.

Police stated during the court hearing that they had raided the cannabis farm after a tip off from the public on 26th June. Mr Ocak was arrested and has made a voluntary confession. Police are now searching for his accomplices.

The judge ordered that Mr Ocak be held for three days while police continue with their investigations.
