The UN Secretary General’s special advisor on Cyprus, Alexander Downer has returned to Cyprus.
This morning he met with the Greek Cypriot President, Nicos Anastasiades.
At 3 pm this afternoon, he began a meeting with President Eroglu. There were no press statements at the start of the meeting.
After his preliminary meeting with the Greek Cypriot president this morning, Downer said that the Greek side were focused on economic issues and that they needed time to prepare. He added that there was no specific calendar for the discussions about the Cyprus problem.
In the meantime, Mr Downer said that he would be in contact with the Turkish and Greek governments and would return to the island in April.
