At a press conference yesterday, CTP leader Yorgancioglu revealed why his coalition talks with the DP party of Serdar Denktash had collapsed.
The DP party had wanted 4 ministries, in particular two key ministries of finance and the interior, plus the position of deputy prime minister.
Mr Yorgancioglu felt that having gone to the country with a programme of economic reform as well as proposed major changes in citizenship laws and permission to purchase rules; they could not hand over those ministries to the DP.
Nevertheless, the DP were adamant on this point.
However, Mr Yorgancioglu now only has until next Friday to form a new government and his chances of doing so are looking increasingly slim.
