Dust from the Sahara is on its way and will continue to be in the air until the weekend, when rain is expected.
Dust storms in the southern Mediterranean are a common problem on the island between February and April, causing pollution affecting humans and agriculture alike. However, the storms are not expected to be as severe as some in the past have been.
Vulnerable groups nevertheless, such as children and the elderly or unwell are advised to remain indoors.
