Presidents Mustafa Akinci and Nicos Anastasiades are meeting this morning to tackle some of the major stumbling blocks in the Cyprus negotiations.
They will attempt to arrive at an agreement on issues such as property and governance.
Greek Cypriot daily ‘Phileleftheros’ claims that today’s meeting will show if President Akinci’s stance has been affected by the new coalition government in the North. The coalition has said that it will support Akinci’s work at the negotiating table.
It also claims that if President Akinci signs the 2016-18 Economic Protocol with Turkey, which, as it stands, includes the proviso that 26,000 Turkish mainlanders be granted TRNC citizenship, will totally undermine the negotiations.
