Economic protocol to be signed within days: Ozgurgun

The economic protocol will be signed in with Turkey in the next few days, Prime Minister Huseyin Ozgurgun has announced.

Speaking at a dinner organised by the National Unity Party’s (UBP), Ozgurgun said that a number of financial obstacles will be removed once the protocol is signed.

Pointing out that the UBP had wished it had come to power through elections, Ozgurgun said that this had not been possible because of the coalition government set up by the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) with the UBP. “We were unable to overcome our differences despite the support we gave during our term in the CTP-UBP coalition. We only managed to come to office three years later with a coalition with the Democratic Party”, he added.

Stating that the UBP’s goal is to win a majority in parliament in the next elections, Ozgurgun said: “There can be no obstacles ahead of us, no project we cannot produce if we are strong. The water transfer project which has the UBP’s signature under it is a good example of this”. He also announced that water will be running from household taps as of the 1st August.
