Economy and Energy Minister Olgun Amcaoğlu has addressed criticisms regarding the management of the country’s economy, asserting that despite global economic challenges, the administration’s handling of the economy in the TRNC stands stronger than portrayed, Kibris Postasi reports.
Emphasising proactive measures, Amcaoğlu highlighted the government’s implementation of ceiling prices on lamb meat as a well-intentioned move aimed at safeguarding the interests of citizens.
Minister Amcaoğlu, speaking through the ministry’s press office, recognised the concerns of butchers about the price rules. He showed understanding but denied claims that the Butchers’ Union was forced to follow the pricing policies.
Regarding broader economic management criticisms, Minister Amcaoğlu denied claims of widespread mismanagement, particularly addressing fuel prices. He provided comparative figures to illustrate his point, highlighting disparities between fuel prices in Turkey, the TRNC, and the South. Amcaoğlu underscored the rationale behind these figures, arguing that they disprove assertions of economic mismanagement and affirm the effective management of the TRNC’s economy despite global economic challenges.
