The Republic of Turkey has extended the 5-day Eid al-Adha holiday, which will begin on June 15, to 9 days for the public, sparking curiosity as to whether the holiday in North Cyprus will also be extended to 9 days.
According to information obtained by Yeniduzen, the government has reached an agreement to limit the holiday to 5 days.
According to the information obtained, the Ministry of Finance presented a report to the Council of Ministers, stating that if Thursday and Friday were declared official holidays, financial problems would arise due to overtime, and therefore requested that this issue not be taken into consideration.
In this context, the UBP – YDP – DP government reached an agreement to limit the holiday to 5 days.
Eid al-Adha begins on Sunday, June 16. The holiday will end on Wednesday, June 19.
The Republic of Turkey has added Thursday and Friday to the holiday, which will end on Wednesday. With the weekend combined, the holiday will last for 9 days.
