Eide has first meeting with Ozersay

UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser for Cyprus Espen Barth Eide met with leader of the People’s Party (HP) Kudret Ozersay.

Ozersay made a statement on social media about the meeting with Eide.

He said that he had met with the UN Envoy for the first time since Ozersay left his post as negotiator and added that he had informed Eide about his party’s vision regarding the Cyprus negotiations and the efforts to find a comprehensive solution.

The former chief negotiator in the talks said he had spoken to Eide about “the Greek Cypriot side’s tender for [exploring] three separate blocks on the island”,

Ozersay expressed the belief that this move will harm the Cyprus negotiations but more importantly carried the threat of further estranging the Greek Cypriots and the Greek Cypriot leadership from a comprehensive solution on the island.
