UN Special Envoy to Cyprus Espen Barth Eide will be meeting with President Nicos Anastasiades on Friday in an effort to save the Cyprus negotiations which were stalled last month.
A vote in the South Cyprus parliament to commemorate Enosis Day in secondary schools brought the talks to a halt.
President Mustafa Akinci said he would not attend any further negotiations until Anastasiades rescinded the decision.
Eide attended a special function at Ledra Palace organised by the Special Representative of UN Secretary General in Cyprus Elizabeth Spehar on Wednesday, to commemorate Zero Discrimination Day.
South Cyprus Government spokesman Nikos Christodoulides said that Eide will meet with Anastasiades on Friday morning. Eide is set to leave Cyprus on Sunday.
No meeting has yet to be arranged with Turkish Cypriot leader Mustafa Akinci, who arrived from Pakistan on Thursday where he had attended the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation meeting.
