UN Secretary-General’s Special Advisor Espen Barth Eide met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu in Ankara on Thursday.
The two men exchanged views on the ongoing Cyprus negotiations and reviewed the current phase of the talks.
According to diplomatic sources, Eide informed Çavuşoğlu about the content of the talks and expressed his satisfaction with the support Turkey has promised for the process. FM Çavuşoğlu, stressed Turkey’s determination to reach a fair and lasting settlement on the basis of the political equity for the Turkish Cypriots. The Turkish minister underlined that Turkey would continue to support the efforts for a comprehensive settlement in Cyprus.
UNSG Special Advisor tweeted photographs from his personal Twitter account yesterday saying “Concluding a good visit to Ankara” and posted a photograph of himself and Cavusoglu and the UN Team.
