The UN Secretary-General’s Special Adviser for Cyprus, Espen Barth Eide, will return to Cyprus next week with the aim of resuming the UN-led Cyprus negotiations, ‘Cyprus Mail’ reports.
Last month, the talks were suspended by Greek Cypriot President Anastasiades following Turkey’s marine activities offshore Cyprus. The Turkish seismic survey vessel ‘Barbaros’ made incursions into [South] Cyprus Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
According to Cyprus News Agency sources, Eide will arrive on Monday and will meet the leaders of both communities on Wednesday.
Eide will also hold meetings with both negotiators, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ergun Olgun. The UN official will leave Cyprus on 28th November.
