Electricity agreement to be signed with Turkey this year

Minister of Economy and Energy Sunat Atun, has said that the route of the submarine cable which will supply the TRNC with electricity will run between the Akkuyu transformer station in Mersin to theTeknecik power station.

He told Anadolou News Agency that the electricity agreement will be signed with Turkey before the year’s end. Construction work will begin immediately after signing.

Atun said that electricity from Turkey will positively contribute to a solution to the Cyprus problem. He said that 400 megawatts of electricity already could be given to South Cyprus from three locations in the north.
