Incidents of fraudulent emails purporting to be from a solicitor involving the transfer of money have been reported by a solicitor’s office in Kyrenia.
A local solicitor notified clients via Facebook that anyone receiving an email request from their solicitor for payment is advised to telephone first to confirm that the request is genuine and ensure that the bank details provided are correct.
In addition, if you are expecting a transfer of funds from the solicitor, your bank details should be provided to the office in person. If you are sending your bank details by email, you must also call the office to verify the details.
