Baraka Cultural Centre, the Biologists’ Association and Green Peace Movement, held a demonstration in protest outside the office for Tourism and Culture in Kyrenia harbour, against the destruction of the ancient ruins of the Kalecik/Gastria Knights Templar settlement .
The group released a statement to the effect that almost every day, a problem is encountered involving damage the ecological environment and cultural heritage.
They criticised the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture for failing to protect the natural and cultural heritage of the country. Although they acknowledge that work by K-Pet had stopped at the site, they asked why no legal action had been taken.
